February 2016 GKKC Club Minutes

The Greater Kingsport Kennel Club met on Monday, February 22, 2016, at the Appalachian Fairgrounds.

The meeting was called to order by President, Glynis Littlewood, at 7:38 PM.

Members Present were: Glynis Littlewood, Darlene Robbins, Gayle Green, Karen Riddle, Brenda Grable, Pam Jones, Tom Kirstein, Kim Williams, Trudy Price, Judy Pinkevich, Rhonda Gibbs and Ben Gibbs

Guests Present were: Craig Kallus, Darcy Kallus, Warren Quinn, Selma Kominek, Eddie Kominek and Eileen Bailey.

Warren Quinn would like his membership to the club be reinstat-ed. If the member was in good standing with the club when they left, a new application accompanied with dues will be taken. The application will be reviewed by the Board. There will be a formal notification to the General Membership with the Board’s recommendation.

There will be an affirmative vote by 3/4 of the general member-ship eligible to vote and voting.

Gayle Green, Treasurer, gave Glynis a copy of the auditor’s letter from Adams and Plucker, CPA, Greeneville, TN. She also gave Glynis a form for Glynis to put her personal info on, so Gayle could take it to Regions Bank. That would get Glynis’ signature, as President, on the account for Regions Bank.
There was no Treasurer’s report.

Gayle Green said she in process of working on the baskets (the trophies) for our show. She did not give a price, but she said they would be less than the cost of last year’s trophies. She also said she had not started making them, because she did not want to store about 16 baskets for 2 or 3 months.

Glynis has been unable to reach Jo Ann Marques, who will be doing the hospitality for our judges at our show. Joan Ann had previously told Glynis that she had reserved Sugar and Spice to do the food for our show.

Darlene Robbins told the club that Sweet Adeline’s, who previously had done the concessions for our show, was retiring and we would need a new food vendor.

The new food vendors are Mama’s Food Factory. They will do the breakfast and lunches for our show. The other vendor is Little Delights, who does 50+ drinks and caramel corn. These vendors have their own trailers.

Glynis has been unable to reach Dr. Robinson, who is usually the vet for our shows. It was mentioned maybe we do not need a vet and use the Emergency Animal Hospital. Glynis will continue to call Dr. Robinson and get his prices.

Ben has not received any vendor contracts back for our show. Glynis asked for the contracts be given to her before the show, since Ben will not be at our show.

There has been no response from Tammy Elliott regarding the “Dog’s Ear”. Tammy had originally said she would do it by No-vember or December.

Rhonda Gibbs will do the trophy cards.

Trophies are to be delivered to the Fairgrounds by Friday, May 20, the set-up day for our show.

There was discussion on sending $300 to Carol Mett to help with Jon Mett’s medical expenses. Jon Mett passed away in Decem-ber, 2015. It was decided that Gayle will send the check and a card to Carol Mett.

There was a first reading on the applications for Sherry and Wal-ter Crossley and Eileen Bailey.

Kim Williams will check on pricing for dog respirators.

Eddie Kominek agreed to teach the conformation classes for our club.
It will be a 6-week class. Glynis will check with Phil Booher at the fairgrounds regarding the use of the building and will get the dates.

The ad for the GKKC handling classes will be put on Facebook.

Brags: Tom Kirsteins’s Basenji won Best of Breed at the National Specialty. Congratulations to Tom and his dog’s win.

Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:40 PM.

Respectfully submitted.

Darlene Robbins
Acting Recording Secretary
