GKKC Board Meeting was called to order at 6:32pm by President Diane Bauman on
October 8, 2024, at Barnes&Noble Cafe in Johnson City.
The September Board Minutes were read and approved with the exception of an
amendment reflecting David Richman was not present at the September Board
Meeting.
Members present were Brian King, Andrew Moore, Joy Ellis, Karen Dooley, Brooke
Salyer, Donna Hamm, Julie Webster, Carrie Kruska, David Richman and Diane
Bauman.
Agility committee member Brian King stated that Katie Smiley, Agility Committee
Chairperson, called a committee meeting concerning the recent storm and decided the
agility trial would be cancelled. The cancellation fee due to Three Bulls arena would be
$100. The closing date was September 30th. Tina Eastman, agility trial secretary,
estimated approximately 25% of the entries were from western North Carolina which
would prohibit travel for those participants.
Discussion of building a list for general membership and building a membership list for
board members with a specific Gmail account for streamlined communication.
Committees were discussed at length with transparency being requested as well as
cohesiveness among committee members.
Donna Hamm will develop sign-up sheets electronically as well as have that available
present at the general meeting for the membership to sign up for the various committee
opportunities.
Brian King suggests if one is unable to attend the meeting then the committee report
should be made available to those not present at the Committe meeting. Joy Ellis will
work on revisions concerning the bylaw committee guidelines. Board suggests
reviewing bylaws twice a year and simplifying the bylaws.
The board discussed the proposed Committee Guideline and discussion of general
budget adoption and determined it would not be in best interest of the GKKC.Discussed
anything over 5% of the desired or approved budget then would need to be
communicated among the committee members. Additionally, the committee should
submit a plan concerning the event and proposed budget.

Brenda Grable: Rally/Obedience
Pam Jones: Conformation
Rhonda Gibbs: Scentwork
David Richman suggests in lieu of a potluck the GKKC should use those funds to
donate for those in need of dog food and supplies due to the recent storm.
GKKC board will give $500 to Chain Free Greenville, 1st motion Andrew Moore and 2nd
motion Brooke Salyer.
Due to recent Hurricane Helene the general membership will vote on a decision of
where and how much will be donated to local shelters impacted by flooding.
GKKC members Dannie Lee and Mary Sparks will be collecting donations for the
Hurricane Helene victims, 1st motion,Donna Hamm, 2nd motion Andrew Moore to donate
$2000 to selected organizations.
