GKKC General Meeting on 06/26/2017 at Appalachian Fairgrounds was called to order by Ben Gibbs, President, at 7:35 PM.
Members present were: Rhonda Gibbs, Ben Gibbs, Kim Williams, Trudy Price, David Richman, Barbara Salberg-Richman, Brenda Grable, Darlene Robbins, Glynis Littlewood, Judy Pinkevich, Pierce Massey, Sheila Leonard, Pam Jones, Valda Currier, Joe Currier, Tom Kirstein, Warren Quinn, Sherry Crossley, Walter Crossley, Jan LeBlanc, Charlie LeBlanc, Dee Wildenstein, Karen Swecker Thacker, Cindy Hintz, and Karen Riddle.
Visitors present were: Julie Webster, Carrie Hodges, Lyn Hyman, Paul Schneider, and Janet Schneider.
May 22, 2017 general meeting minutes were read and approved as presented.
Treasurer’s report was accepted as presented.
The obedience show was discussed and the decline in entries were thought to be a result of the show being held outside. Several options were discussed including 1) holding the show inside on Friday before the conformation show begins on Saturday and 2) holding it Saturday and Sunday after most of the conformation rings are finished. The discussion was tabled after it was determined these and other options should be explored and discussed in greater detail.

Since there were no nominations from the floor at the general meeting in May, Cindy Hintz made a motion that the new slate of officers be accepted by acclamation. Warren Quinn seconded the motion. The motion passed with a unanimous vote.
The following standing rules were recommended by the standing rules committee to be passed:
-Transfers from the investment account require board approval. (Currently Raymond James)
-Financial statements, including the balance sheet and income statement will be produced monthly. The treasurer will email the financial statements to club members, before the monthly meeting when possible.
-The treasurer and all other authorized officers on the bank accounts, will be bonded within 30 days of taking office in an amount determined by the board. (Currently State Farm).
-Audits will be done as required by the board, but at least once every 3 years. (beginning with Year End 06/30/17)
-The audit firm will be hired by a board member who does not have bank access (and is not related to, married to, or resides with GKKC member with bank access).
Each rule was approved by majority vote after discussions.
Pam Miller’s application was read for the second time.
There was discussion regarding Canine Inter-action Agency being permitted to hold another AKC FASTCAT event under GKKC’s name in November 2017. Rhonda Gibbs made a motion that Canine Inter-action Agency be permitted to hold the AKC FASTCAT event in November 2017 with GKKC affiliation and GKKC will receive 10% of the net proceeds (entry fees less refunds less AKC fees). Pierce Massey seconded the motion. 20 voted in favor and 2 opposed, motion passed.
The Fun Fest Dog Show will be July 17th, 2017 at Allandale and volunteers are needed from 2:00 – 5:00 PM and until 8:15 or so. Contact Charlie and/or Jan LeBlanc to sign up.
The picnic will be July 24th at 6:30 PM. Darlene Robbins agreed to secure a shelter at Bays Mountain. Barbara Salberg-Richman and David Richman agreed to provide the food and organize the picnic.
