GKKC October 2019 General Minutes

Greater Kingsport Kennel Club General meeting Monday, October 28, 2019, at Appalachian Fairgrounds was called to order at 7:02 PM by President, Darcy Kallus.

Members present were: Rhonda Gibbs, Ben Gibbs, Kim Williams, David Richman, Barbara Salberg-Richman, Brenda Grable, Pam Jones, Judy Pinkevich, Val Currier, Joe Currier, Sherry Crossley, Walter Crossley, Carrie Hodges, Sheila Leonard, Julie Webster, Katie Smiley, Andrew Moore, DeAnna Moore, Michelle Kruger, Kendalyn Kruger, Sandy Alexander, Debbie Sullivan, Pierce Massey, Trudy Price, Karen Riddle, Darcy Kallus, Craig Kallus, Jan LeBlanc, Charlie LeBlanc, and Tom Kirstein.

Visitors present were: Lyn Hyman, Laura Freeman (Laura.Freeman4@va.gov), Rhiannon Freeman, Kelly Irish, Donna Hamm, Pamela Bradbury, David Bradbury, Dave Alexander, Karen Smith and Jan Ladoe.

General meeting minutes from September 23, 2019 were read and approved.

Treasurer’s report accepted and approved as presented.

AKC lifetime achievement award nominees in letter from the AKC were discussed.

Scent work Committee chair reported on recent trial entries and discussed future scent work trial locations and dates.

Agility chair discussed the October 2019 show and reported the overall trial went smoothly.

There was discussion of trophy donations for upcoming events…. trophy support needed with deadline of December 4, 2019 to Pam Jones and the need to include the value of the item donated.

Rally and Obedience judges have been scheduled for the May 2020 Obedience Trail.

Discussion of available GKKC position, AKC Legislative Liaison.

Discussion of New Business

Two Items were voted on:

This will allow access to QuickBooks Cloud and will be easy to cross train other members. Motion 1: QuickBooks Plus Online for $70 a month…. Rhonda Gibbs made the 1st motion and Barbara Richman made the 2nd motion. Motion approved.

Motion 2: One-time fee to allow Rhonda Gibbs and Brenda Grable to meet with a CPA at $75 per hour for the training of Cloud QuickBooks Access. This motion includes up to 20 hours, if needed, with a CPA. There will be a 20-hour cap @$75 per hour. Andrew Moore made the 1st motion and Ben Gibbs made the 2nd motion. Motion approved.

Request made for a club member to volunteer to update new member application and sponsors questionnaire, Carrie Hodges volunteered for this task.

The board recommended Lloyd and Lisa Graser, Karen and Ron Schavrien and Saskia Sowers applications for membership. A vote by ballot was taken at the general meeting and Lloyd and Lisa Graser, Karen and Ron Schavrien and Saskia Sowers were voted in as members.

The GKKC will be sponsoring our Christmas Party at the ChopHouse in Kingsport for our next club meeting on December 4th, 2019.
